PQomplex Map

okay, i realized somethin today about pqomplex, BOTS RUN REALLY SLOW. i think its time for some optimizations, i ran r_speeds and i found upwards of 350 wpolys in the big box with bots this is completely unplayable. Also in the true levvel if found spots peaking out at 130 wpolys i believe the lowest poly count i found was standing in front of a wall, and that was still 16 or so, when i turned around it spiked to 50-70 the whole time :/

Yeah, they do run slower. Omicron has alot more overhead than the Reaper- I don't know how much of this is due to the models, animations, sounds, ai, etc.

Last modification: randall - 04/27/01 at 01:32:43

Damn, that sux. Omnicron really has a lot of nice features, and it's learning is pretty impressive.

I've been pleased with the performance I'm getting.

I'll have a go with reaperbots tonight

Oh man, I got Requiem bots to work! :D :D

This is a pretty sweet mod. It's distributed as a server side file, but by combining both the client and server files I've got it working on the PC, should carry over just fine on PocketQuake.

I'll make a pak file for this, and include 2 maps. I'm going to give it a go on Randall's map. It should be a perfect scrimmage grounds for this type of Mod. Hey Randall, can I include your map in the Pak file?

Last modification: 999 - 04/27/01 at 03:12:23

well, the bots are based off of Reaper *i think*, but the mod itself is a fun one. It's got runes like Haste, Strength, etc. as well as cool weapon mods. Each weapon has 2-3 variations depending on your ammo. I particularly like chaingun ;).

Crossing fingers, moving pak file over to iPAQ now :o

I haven't tried the requiem bot, but I've heard of it.

I like the omicron, simply because it has better learning and persistent weapons. But it requires more resources.

The reaper is a smaller hit to memory- which I don't happen to have alot of. So I use this one instead.

Yeah, it would be cool if you included my map in the PAK file.
