God of all Quake mappers i've seen

http://www.planetquake.com/nehahra/screens.html
Its pretty amazing stuuff. But anyway, i been working on putting out a new mod, so far i've checked Special Forces, Which is awsome, but i can't find a bot for it :/ Minakota which is a sailor moon thing, but it don't work. And some other crap :/ this is depressing work here. I got SF to run, and load levels so, whenever we get a server up, we can play SF :) the single player for it crashes my ppc, and its like 19 meg.

Well, I have the 200 mb, but no 3d card, I think I will give it a try anyway though.

Only lately have laptops been available with 3D acceleration, Moose.

Yeah, you may have a faster system Moosey, but I can play Unreal Tournament with a wireless modem while waiting for my plane to arrive at the gate. :)

but my desktop computers have 3D cards. They are pretty damn cheap nowadays, especially for the older Voodoo cards.

Moose, what brought that up? if you thought I was saying that I dont have a 3d card in my computer you read it wrong, I dont have one in my PocketPC. I have already got all the files for this mod and I am going to try it on PocketPC to see how bad the fps are. Any guesses? 2-3fps? Want some in game screenshots?

I won't be making any high poly maps, because they are unplayable. Even the Sin and UT maps I am working on are low-poly (around 550-600).

I have played alot of UT maps that look great (1000 polycount), but they suck ass online and lag out. Needless to say that type of map doesn't get circulated much.

Anyone can create a great looking high poly map- it's not a miracle and doesn't require a great amount of skill. As a matter of fact, most new mappers first mistake is to go hog wild and have too much detail.

The miracle is keeping the polycount below the threshold of decreased performance. Look at anything by LevelLord (Richard Gray) at Ritual... that man is a Mapping God. All his maps look like they should have insane polycounts, but they are fast as hell.

Yeah, I think he was on the Ritual team when they did "Scourge of Armageddon". It was an addon to Quake.

He has worked on all the major Ritual titles- Sin and FAKK2, and even submitted some maps for HalfLife.
