Run the map in Quake. Once the map loads, drop the console and type "pointfile". Then wander around your map until you find a series of dots. Follow that line of dots and it will lead you to the leak.

I cant open the map in quake because my editor wont compile the map to run in quake with the leak, so i cant get a bsp file.

It'll compile with a leak. It'll just have horrible r_speeds.

I use Worldcraft as my editor, and the standard BSP compiler that comes with it. I'd recommend using those tools since they are far more stable than anything else I have ever used. (note: I din't say EASIER to use... I said MORE STABLE)

There aren't enough particles to draw the lines. Try upping the r_maxparticles (I think that's the command) to 10,000 or something wacked like that.

yeah, I just checked. r_maxparticles is POCKETQUAKE ONLY. I don't know if any other commands will help with the particle problem.

You can load you map into pocketQuake and try it.

Alternatively the WorldCraft editor allows you to load a pointfile- I have found it doesn't work that great though.

Anyway, you should be able to find at least a partial line to follow. Normally if I run out of particles the line just "ends". Try noclipping outside your map and see if you can see anything from out there.

r_maxparticles is something I added for Pocket Quake. However, there is a command line switch to have Quake allocate more particles:
-particles n

Quake's default is 2048.

Dan East
