Setting up a quake server

Hi all<br><br>just a quick question :).  What do I need to set up a games server (quake 2 I assume) so i can connect pocket quake to them via a wireless network.<br><br>I have tried running quake 2 as a server then trying to connect without any success, hope you can help.<br><br>Regards,<br>Stephen

um... thats crazy. this is quake ONE not quake TWO. you need quake 1. ONE

OMG. gee, I wonder why it wouldn't work with Q3 and UT either... there must be some kind of bug in pocketQuake.~

I never thought that there was anything wrong with pocket quake :), just me being stupid :).

Make sure you use WinQuake and not the original DOS version. The DOS version does not support TCP/IP networking, which is the only type of networking PQ supports.<br><br>Dan East

By the way, I should be getting my laptop back onto our DSL connection tonight (they're finishing up work on the floors at my house) and I'm thinking of setting up a Quake server for PQ users. I figure I'll run Omicron or something on it, dedicated, with maybe another one running in the background with a server version of Rocket Arena. Any takers?<br><br>If you're interested, send me an e-mail and I'll distribute my IP address when it's running. I'm understandably a little nervous about posting it on the public boards. Also, I'll probably only be able to play myself late at night Eastern Time, since I don't have a CF NIC so I have to dial in on 56k and connect that way. That'll keep it fair, though.
