A Jornada 720 version using the new GAPI

Please don't flood me with mail about the 2D acceleration of the 720. I do not know how to access it anyway. The only way it is used currently (I believe) is in the BltBlt function. Since this function is slow and innefficient anyway, I have not seen that their "2D acceleration" does a whole lot.

Larry B.

hey Rob, I just wanted to let you know that when i try to run the latest version of pocketquake.. i get a low memory warning.. But the older version works fine. Not sure if this is something that just affects my handheld. Thanks for the port and keep up the good work.

Actually, I am learning asm for the arm processor, so I can improve some of the math routines and make Quake faster and more efficient. Untill then, there isn't much left to do. By the way, if anyone would like to thank me for all of my hard work, I have set up a Yahoo donation account where you can make donations. My email address is playnogamz@nls.net and screen name is ROB720720

I'm not sure exactly how it works yet, but that sould be enough info I think.

Numlock, are you in Europe? A German 720 user reported being unable to get past the nag screen. See this thread:

Good morning since Pengin Village,

I traied all the autoexec.cfg and config.cfg that some people put in this forum and I don't see any diferent. In 320x240 it's very slow!. I put this files in \quake\ID1. What can be the problem? When you say overclocking... are you making a real procesor overclocking by hardware?!!!!! Or it's something that you do by hardware? The Jornada720 Procesor is a 260MHz? How can you make an overclocking at 233MHz its an underclocking ;-) How can i do this "something"clocking.

The StrongARM processor can be overclocked via software. Check http://www.jimmysoftware.com for their free utility to overclock. It is "only for the iPaq", but will work on the 720 and @migo. It's been widely reported that the 720 cannot properly handle the fastest speed (236 mhz); it won't produce sound.

Dan East

The 720 uses a 206 Mhz strongARM.
Its clock speed can be set in software. If you goto:

http://www.jimmy.com

and download the ipaq overclocker, you can then overclock your processor to 233Mhz, or underclock it to conserve battery.

John.
