I was thinking like 10 or 12 levels, but there would be bout 3 level packs, plus one pack with the gui and stuff.

Hey, sounds good to me. Like I said, I'll pitch in where I can. I've been looking over the stuff at inside3d.com, and I've got to say that it looks pretty simple overall. I can't wait.

Zerstorer is awesome -- I think anyone who is thinking of making a mod for quake should play zer first.. The quakity of it is amazing, everything is well thought-out and the cut-scenes are spectacular, especially the first one ;)
The surprise I had the first time I saw that... wow!

10 maps? uhmmm.. If each map is about 800kb, that will be about 8mb of maps, plus sounds and GUI! Thats a little too much for those without CF cards

Zerstorer is kind of the God of Mods for Quake. It took the Quake gothic atmosphere, before that was worn away to a nasty pallid growth on the industry, and made it creepier. I went and grabbed it a few days ago just to check it out, and it's very impressive.

Memory problems, bah. Can't you people just divide your mem by 0 like everyone else. But seriously, that's why I was going to break it up into 3 level packs, and then a gui pak. There is no need to have the 2 hidden levels (just a preview of one of my certain plans), when you haven't yet beat the game on agent, now is there? Also, I think I'll look at this in asm soon, but can the gzip routine be optimized at all for speed? Just a question.

I thought I remembered Dan saying that pq 0.07 would have 100x faster Gzip support...

That was a while ago though

That's cool. I'll write to hime to see if he can send me the source for that, and I'll include it in the 720 version right now.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how the other versions have worked in the past? For example, my monochrome source is 100% compatible with the color iPAQ source as long as you change a define. Does Dan usually handle that, or should I do the compile and send it to him when the new source is released?

Thomas, have you run Zerstorer on your PPC/HPC? I'm wondering if I can run it on my 720...

I ran it on my laptop. I can't think of any reason it wouldn't run on the PPC though, if you've got the room. It's pretty hefty.

I freed up some space on my card by getting rid of the last two episodes of Quake the other night. Maybe I'll give it a shot later. It's frickin' hard with the mouse, though, I don't think I'd like it much with just the stylus.

I have room for the pak and other files, I just need to find a way to launch the mod. Does anyone have a utility for writing HPC 2000 Pro shortcuts? (I need a shortcut to execute the command line to launch quake, set the heap size and set "-game zer" ) I opened up (in PocketWord) esw's shortcut for his SP map for clues, but it's not a text file.
