Paul, did you already played the original version of the map for Pd or Goldeneye? I mean, do you know how is the N64 version?Last modification: Diego Cueva - 04/21/01 at 02:35:37

Do the custom textures are saved in the .bsp file when I save it? Or do they are only associated with the map?

Thanks,
Diego Cueva
Last modification: Diego Cueva - 04/21/01 at 02:38:38

In Quake textures are saved with the .BSP . So you need to be aware of what and how many textures you use since it will increase the filesize. I could have made my map look much better and more interesting by using more textures. But the map start approaching 1 meg. Too big for a DM map, I think.

In Quake 2 and most every other FPS, the textures are associated. This is a much better method, since the textures exist only ONCE and all the maps SHARE.

Last modification: randall - 04/21/01 at 02:43:53

I don't think I've played it before in Goldeneye. Its nice but I think theres too much space between each part - I had to do a lot of running, but I like small compacted maps - I'm sure the others will like it

The lighting seems to be set to full all the way through it though, and theres a hole in the floor that i FELL through into the abyss!

I like the underwater section though, just sort out the lighting and that hole

If the map appears fullbright, it may be a compiling error, unless the map was designed that way. If there are leaks the lighting and VIS don't compile properly.

If you fell through a hole into the abyss, then there is a serious leak. Sometimes brushes do funky things. Delete the offending brush and redraw it.

Oh, It is at fullbright becouse I wanted to see how the light effects worked in WC and the textures are very bright. It will be fixed. The hole you fall is now filled with water.(if it is the hole I think it is). About the rooms being big, I tried to get them a little smaller, but it is hard, since I need to rebuild tons of things every time I change something. I will send you the new alpha. If randall wants it too, please let me know.

Diego Cueva

I don't want you hacking it to bits because I said I wanted it smaller, I just prefer maps like that. Is that extra water bit connected to the others or just 'there'?

Great points for sniping in there too

The water is just there (Hey, don´t blame me, blame Perfectdark level designers). I think it´s too big too, but I think there´s nothing I can do about that... :(

Diego Cueva
