hp 525 port

hp 525 port

The HP 525 port works reasonably well. It is definitly playable. Right now, I have the gzipped wad file on my compact flash card. The loading time is horrible and i get these little one second pauses every now and then. Do you think the overall game speed (not just the loading time)will increse if I put the wad file on the actual device?

That will only affect the load time, not the Frames Per Second. If you have room on your CF card you can also decompress the pak0.pak.gz file (it will be around 18 MB then) for MUCH faster load times. The real slowdown with load times is because the file is gzipped, not because it is on your CF card (although that exacerbates the problem).

Dan East

Sorry for double-posting, but I just found a way to make PQ run so much better on the 525. I was reading in past posts, and someone said to add r_fullbright "1" to the autoexec.cfg file to run quake with full brightness to increase speed (no dynamic lighting). Well I tried it, it's awesome. You can see so much better too. Only problem is the text (like in the options menu) is really hard to read. Oh, and another bug I found is it always says Load Failed when starting a new level/game in the console, but it works anyway.

I have the full version of Quake on my PC and I was wondering which one of these files I need to play the full version on my Pocket PC. Is it the pak.0.pak file or the pak.1.pak file, as I have both in my Quake directory.

Thanks monkey boy! *Gives Paul a banana.*

Update: I have found, that Paul is wrong. Yes thats right paul. You can't only have the Pak1.pak in the quake/ID1/ directory. You must have both the Pak0.pak and the Pak1.pak in the ID1 folder. If you do not do this, quake will fail to load, and a error message will say you are missing the gfx.wad file.

*Kicks monkey boy*
