PocketSQ8 (KickFlip) ModPak

Postby 999 » Jun 9, 2001 @ 5:44pm

What can't the QuakeGuy do nowadays?
Image
This mod is one of the better "skating" ones out there, as you can go against bots in a points competition.

There's 10 mini skateparks, which are ironically ideal for the PPC, and about 8 or so moves. I've only done two, but I reckon Chuck will take the time to figure them all out ;)

I haven't made a MIPS autoexec file, but they can still play using the Arm package I've uploaded. Perhaps one of you Mips users can post a config for this. All you have to do is rebind the 3 trick keys to your hardware buttons, I'm too lazy ;)

As always, u need to have a registered version of Quake (PC or Mac, don't matta) to play this mod.

Last modification: 999 - 06/09/01 at 14:44:38

Oh yeah, every mod I've installed, I have had to remove and modify the autoexec.cfg file from the PAK.

Would it be a dumb idea to have the CFGs apart from the PAK in the first place?

Last modification: randall - 06/09/01 at 15:45:27

I try to keep it as chimp proof as possible with separate zip files.

In a non-padded world, there would just be one file for download, and a posted CFG for users to dissect and use to their own liking.

Alright. That's it. This is just the funkiest mod I've EVER played. It is too cool.

Indy grab to backside boardslide to kickflip. That was just a simple trick I am able to pull off nearly every time while playing pocketKickFlip.

I think I have a pretty damn good config going on. Using the dPad and 3 buttons I am able to pull off every trick and grind... except for a simple OLLIE! :(

I'm going to see if I can fine tune it a bit more.

Randall, Can you post your config for the rest of the MIPsers out there?

Also, I just realized on PC, there seems to be a 4th trick key. I think it's the left ctrl or left alt key, forgot which I was pressing. It speeds you up, like bigtime, and when done in the air, he'll do a kickflip.

JC and Carp:

Okay, I think I'm going to setup a new ICQ account.

Not too sure. I have about 30-40 contacts on my current icq, and more than 1/2 only talk to me when they want something.

I was hoping to filter out the garbage by not coming online for a while.

If you guys use YIM, I'd be happy to give you my account ID for that service :)

here is the config I am currently using for KickFlip. It kind of plays like a gameboy, so you don't really need to use stylus. It also doesn't require multiple keypresses, or awkward button presses.

bind "UPARROW" "+forward"
bind "DOWNARROW" "+kickflip"
bind "LEFTARROW" "+left"
bind "RIGHTARROW" "+right"

bind AUX3 "+indy"
bind AUX4 "+popshuvit"
bind AUX5 "+shuvit360"

alias "+indy" "+trick1"
alias "-indy" "+jump;wait;-jump;+attack;wait;-trick1;-attack"
alias "+popshuvit" "+trick2"
alias "-popshuvit" "+jump;wait;-jump;+attack;wait;-trick2;-attack"
alias "+shuvit360" "+trick3"
alias "-shuvit360" "+jump;wait;-jump;+attack;wait;-trick3;-attack"
alias "+kickflip" "+attack"
alias "-kickflip" "+jump;wait;-jump;wait;-attack"
alias "+ollie" "+jump"
alias "-ollie" "-jump"

it prettly simple once you try it. Press and hold down any of the 3 buttons (AUX4-AUX5)... this kind of preps him up for the trick... when you release the button the quake guy will ollie and bust a trick.

To do a simple kickflip, press and release the backarrow button on the dPad. (this can be mapped to +ollie instead)

Easy stuff... yeah, I guess it's cheating.

Now for something more difficult, but it can still be accomplished with one button. Find a ramp with a rail after it, so you can try a grind.

As you approach the lip of the ramp, press and release AUX4 to bust a pop shuvit. While you are still in the air, press and hold down the AUX4 button as you land on the rail and he'll do a backside boardslide. When you get to the end of the rail, release AUX4 and he'll dismount with another pop shuvit.

Try alternating the button presses... like AUX3, AUX4, AUX5 will do an "indy to boardslide 360 popshuvit out."

remember to hold down the button when trying a grind, and simply release it to dismount.

Oh yeah, add that config to the END of the kickflip autoexec.cfg file. It requires some of the binds and stuff that 999 supplied.
