I recently bought a Jornada 710, and I am having the same problem. I wrote to Lary last month, and he sent me a little program to retrieve the video-memory address for my device. I sent him the results, and thats the last I've heard. This is so frustrating.

Hi, I'm at a different computer and I didn't feel like getting logged in. Could you send me that program, and maybe I can find a good workaround.
playnogamz@nls.net

I just discovered Robs new version of Quake...
the one with the .vb path set utility.
This version almost runs on my Jornada 710! :)
The screen now turns black, and
after a minute, I can hear Quake running.
However, the screen stays black.
Using esp ;) I have discovered that the video address for the 720 is different than that of the 710. However, the system stats are identical. When I have time (probably tomorrow) I will recompile Quake giving it the other video address and send it out for testing.

EUREKA!
I finally have Quake running on my Jornada 710!
It turns out that a soft-reset causes the
video-memmory address to change.
Initially, the Video-memory address is at:
0x061B0000 (Is this the address the J720 uses?)
But after a soft-reset, it moves to
0x0A1B0000 (I assume the J720 doesnt do this?)
which causes GAPI to crash.
AFAIK, The only way to fix this, is to
do a Hard-reset, and lose all my data. :(
But at least it works now. :)

How do I find out the actual Video base address for my 720?
Now when you do a soft reset, does this mean the address changes again - and you have to do a hard reset again?
Yes, that is exactly what I mean...
After every soft-reset, I have to do a hard-reset again, if I want to run any games, and every time I lose all settings and data that was not backed up.

To retrieve the video-address, I used a little utility called cesnoop, by Larry Bank, who also wrote the HPC2000 version of GAPI 1.0.
