TV-Out

TV-Out

Postby MZGuy » Jul 9, 2001 @ 8:18am

I'm using a Geforce 2 MX with TV-out for watching movies and play games on the TV-screen (PAL).
I'm now using the A/V cables cuz they were bundled with the card. How much of an improvement in picture quality will I get if I connect it with a S-video cable instead?

The differences between A/V and S-Video is like the difference between a sharp, hifi 1600x1200 image and an 2X FSAA 800x600 image, 16x16 being S-Video. It's much sharper, the colors don't bleed into each other, and the edges of things stay as an edge. You'll be amazed. It's worth the extra price.

I'm sure there will be. And on most HPCs there are VGA ports to go out to a monitor. All we'd need is a cool CF or PC Card. They make PC Cards, but you'd have to get drivers.

Yeah, I've seen the PC-card SVGA that works with PocketPC. I don't remember seeing anything for standard video output to a TV.

well, if i can set the resolution on the pc card, it'll work. I already have one of those cool external TV out things. You just plug it into the Monitor out, and then set the resolution to 640/480 and poof. Plug it in.

As far as I can tell, you can't set the resolution with the PC-Card I've been looking at. The display area is the entire PPC screen.

I don't think it supports landscape mode, which would be a VERY handy feature since most monitors and TVs are horizontal.

well, if you set it with Jimmy's Landscape to 640/480 landscape wouldn't that work? I mean it just takes whats on the screen. And moose, i bought this second hand. Its a TView Micro. Its a cheap version, i think. It only does vga 640/480. you can Get one that does XVGA at 1024/768. Its a little box that sits next to my computer. Its really cool. Check out there website at http://www.focusenhancements.com/ It does S-video and RCA. Its really cool because its small, and can be connected t o any computer, all u do is install the drivers, and plug in and go.

well how about this, get chris to email them, and send me a promo. Then i'll test it and post a review. I'd also need that cf-Pcmcia card thingy from brighthand. But if you got me tha card, i'd spend 50 for the converter.
