New Computer! (maybe...)

Re: New Computer! (maybe...)

This thread has gone so off topic it's hilarious. I won't be getting that $3600 dollar Alienware :-( Instead, I may be getting the Alienware Aurora DDR 1.4Ghz AMD (I prefer AMD) with G-Force3, 256Mb RAM, 60Gb, 19" moniter (looking into Samsung, or Dell, or something, I don't know yet, but it will be around $250), 40X DVD-ROM (is it true that a DVD drive can read CDs? I just want to make sure), Soundblaster Live! card with Klipsch 4.1 400Watt THX speakers (:-)), and keyboard and Microsoft Intellimouse (I already have one, but now I can have 2). All for a much better $2300. If I do get this computer, I will be getting it in September to December, so the price will go down.

I just found out that all Alienware computers only come with 2 USB ports, which is obviously not enough. Does anyone have any recommendations for any specific USB hub? I've been looking into the ATEN, USBgear, D-Link, and many others, and they all seem to be the same thing. Thanks.

Thanks guys. I'm looking at all the USB hubs, to see which one looks the coolest and matches the color with the Alienware green color. 90% of them are really ugly boxes that look like they're from the 1980's, but many, like the ATEN and D-Link, look really cool, they are a translucant green that matches real nicely with the computer case.

UGH! Why can't people build their own computers!? It's half the fun of getting a new computer, atleast for me! And why would you want some ugly colored case with an alien on it? That's not even what real aliens look like anyway! Ugh. Nevermind. Do what you want, but don't involve me in it.

It's not just the case, my dad doesn't want me to make my own because he wants a warranty on it and tech support (I've never used tech support before, but my dad does all the time, usually to make fun of them, he makes stuff up to confuse the person).

The color is not a major concern, I just don't want one of those ugly USB hubs. And I'd rather kill myself than get a Mac.

You get just as good a warranty on the individual parts, if not better, than you do from a big brother manufacturer Line Alien or Dell.

And tech support? If you can't figure out to plug the cord into the hole that it fits in then you don't deserve tech support. even gives you a VHS Video Tape to show you what to do! It can't be ANY EASIER! And you get better components that big bro hasn't gotten in yet at OEM prices! WINDOWS 2000 was $40 from TCComputers when I bought it with my computer,as opposed to $200!
