I'm in love :)

I live round about Los Angeles.

There are Vdub "jamborees" and such here regularly. I'm just not one to participate, my baby's for me and my eyes only ;) I'm thinking about entering her in the Battle of the Imports however. It will give me a chance to finally open her up on a track (straights) and see what she can do. Best part is, if I can keep consistent times, I have a chance at winning for my class :)

Warren, do you know where the hell I'd put a chip in a Corrado? I have a Neuspeed "E-Chip"(?) that says it's for my car. It's in the glove box, and I reckon it was taken out so the car could pass smog. Anyhow, I want to put that bad-boy back in, but have no friggen clue where to look for a "slot" so to speak.

It goes in the engine. Go to an auto custom shop, because if you try to do it yourself, your car won't work. It's WHY inside, because VW doesn't want you to mess with it. They have to open the chip box, put in port thing to change the chips, and put in the new chip, configure the new chip, and close and hide the box. REMEMBER! When goes to the VW dealer for an oil change or anything, or for inspection, REPLACE the chip to the old one, otherwise, if VW finds out, your warranty is voided, and if the station finds out 'bout your chip, they'll fail you, so remember to change it. It's easy to change, you'll have to open the box, rip out the chip, and put in the original chip.

Well, this chip has already been configured and everything, it just needs to be installed. It was in there before, but the guy took it out so he could sell it to the dealer i bought it from. I reckon it's mainly for to pass California's Smog Emissions test.

It's odd because I'm not sure what the chip will do once installed. I *thought* it would let me go farther into the red zone, as my first Corrado would just lose all power at a certain point in the redzone, as do most cars these days :(. Well, lastnight, I almost hit the limit line in second gear in my newer Corrado, and it's not even chipped yet. The original owner must have modded that already, so this chip must do something else :):) ?

Last modification: 999 - 06/06/01 at 11:09:48

The chip doesn't let you rip into the red zone, it increases horsepower, but increases emissions. It actually increases fuel economy too. Well, you can probably go into the red zone more with the added hp. As for Moose's new Benz, the Corrado can and will smoke the Benz. And I don't believe he got it for $17,000USD, because they're $35,000USD new. Maybe his is a wrecked. Fire? Flood maybe? You gotta wonder why someone would sell a pretty much new Mercedes for half it's price. 999, how much did you get yer Corrado for? You can usually get a standard 100,000 mile one for $3,000, and a really supped up low mile one for $10,000. If the previous owner for your Corrado had the chip put in, then you should be able to install it yourself. I betcha www.neuspeed.com has instructions to do it.

Warren, Good idea, I should check out neuspeed's site. I've got to get to that "EMC"(?) box and then open it and replace the chip. I have no F'n clue where that box is, but my dad tells me it's most likely under the carpeting, or behind something I'll have to take apart first :\

Your prices aren't off either, when it's all done and said, I'll be paying just barely 10k for the car. I put down 3500 to get it off the lot, so my payments are pretty tiny, roughly 200 bux. I really am pleased with the price, simply because the original owner only put HQ parts in, for instance my shocks and struts cost 1200 for the set, and that's at my dad's cost, so I'm really thankful the guy on the lot didn't know jack about Vdubs or the Corrado.

Yea, I knew I can smoke that Benz in the other post, but I reckon if that thing is souped up, I'll have some good competition. A stock Corrado is 180HP, and that one is 190, but well, I'm not stock anymore ;)

I smoked a little fixed up Honda Accord yesterday. I took the guy off the line really bad, got about 9 or 10 car lengths ahead of him, and let off because he just couldn't even hang. It's funny, because once I left off, who comes buzzing buy giving me a smart ass look? Hah, yep that little honda. I just laughed and said, "oh, so you want to get me on the top end little man?" and just drove on. He didn't challenge me at the next light ;)

Post some pics of your Vdubs Warren!!!! I'll snap some more shots of mine today. I've been out driving all week since I got it, and haven't really had time to snap some piccies.

Ya, the corrada can beat my Benz, but I'd be losing in style with the top down and the windows up.
Plus, I didn't say i bought one, I can find one that inexpensively though.

Well, losing with dignity is always a good thing, that's for sure.

Like I said, if that benzo was fixed up, it'd be a tough race, as it's now mainly the drivers who make the difference.

Yea, that thing sounded like it had rocks in the engine whenever you floored it. Still, you drove hella far, and a lot while you were down here. I don't think my Corrado could manage that at all. I'd have to do the long desert trek at night or else I'd overheat! Heat + Aluminum Engine Block = :(

You prolly also get much better gas mileage as well. This thing really sux with gas. I have to drive like an old lady to conserve, but what's the point of driving slow in a sports car? Oh bother...

Hey Jaybot, your Saturn makes a weird noise inside the engine when you accelerate? That's called miss-firing. The spark plugs are igniting the fuel faster than it can be pumped into the chamber. The valves between the fuel pipe and the chamber are being pushed from both sides buy the igniting fuel, so the valves bang against the casing. Try a higher grade fuel, that should stop the problem. It won't hurt the car, atleast not for a while. And if you've got a Saturn you need a new one anyway.
Just thought I'd help

I'd have to hear it myself, but whatever you say 999, you're our resident car expert.
