Warren:<br><br>Firstly, I can only drive production cars, hence my stating the corrado is the fastest car vw has built. Okay so I went a little overboard, but it's the truth to an extent. I mean an NSX isn't honda's fastest car they've ever built if you really want to get into symantecs here ;)<br><br>Secondly, you're absolutelly right about German cars needing to be tuned for the Autobahn. My car has a rising rear fin for more downward force on the back-end at high speeds. Not to mention all new AudiTTs have swaybars after the first gen models were flipping on the autobahn doing a buck twenty. A good example of how rigorous the car must be if it's to be driven on the autobahn.<br><br>Regarding Lexus, again, I totally agree, it's nothing more than a Toyota at it's heart. It's sad to think of all these yuppies overpaying for a name. In japan, there is no lexus, acura, or infinity so go figure. I mean at least VW didn't have to pretend to be a new company just so they could roll out a higher end product. They just flat out increased their prices to the same range as BMWs and that was that, but Toyota? Well, who's going to buy a 40+k Toyota?<br><br>Another interesting side note is, when one thinks of a high priced luxury vehicle, one thinks of craftsmanship, and a low production run as most parts are made or pieced together by hand. What's to look forward to in owning a Lexus when they can spit them out as fast as a miccieD BigMac? Just so you can be another "me too" in the crowd? That new sc500 i think it is is a fuqing joke! It looks like a tricked out honda civic with clear corners, rims and an exhaust (just a big tip, but a tiny pea shooter port, haha), and is 'good' to go right outta the box for little yuppie speedracer jimmy and bobby. I smoked a new one last-night, the guy didnt even have his plates yet. I bet he didn't think his car was that fast after anymore ;)<br><br>I cut him off as my fin was rising. I wish I could put a sticker on the under side of it as it lifts which reads:<br>"If you can read this, you've just been smoked"<br><br>

999, I agree with all that you said. Japanese car companies are ONLY focused on reliability, which they do ok (even though Germans is better), but they don't even care about performance, style, or anything. The thing I REALLY hate about Japanese cars is that they COPY other cars!!!! Lexus is the worst by far. The Lexus IS300, the one with the neat back lights, is a complete carbon copy. The front is a VW Jetta, the side a BMW, the back is a carbon copy of a Mercedes, and the interior is a super extremely copied Porsche interior. The Lexus GS is completely a Mercedes E-class, Lexus has even admitted that they have been buying Mercedes and stripping them down and stealing parts and putting their name on it. The Lexus SC is a super carbon copy of the Porsche Boxster, just take off the grill, and bam! A low quality Porsche copy. The Toyota Celica, the so call "sporty" one, is a carbon copy of the Lamborghini Cala. The new Mazda Protege 5 is a vividly sickening copy of the Toyota Matrix concept. Hyundai, a crap Korean company, is a copy of Honda. All Infinitis are copies of Maseratis. Acuras looks too much like Hondas, even though they're the same company. The Mitsubishi Diamante is a carbon copy of Lincoln. The Japanese Hybred cars are the ugliest things on the planet. Now let's use some common sense. The Honda Insight is $20,000USD. It weighs 1,800 pounds. It's a 2-seater with a million batteries behind you. It's freakin' ugly! It's a 1.0L 3 cylinder 67hp 0 torque engine. But you get 60 miles per gallon. The Volkswagen Beetle TDI is $19,000. It weighs almost 3,000 pounds. It's a 4-seater, 5 with a baby. It's a 1.9L 4 cylinder 90hp 155 torque engine, MUCH faster than the Honda, and even faster than most gas cars, the torque is double most cars. And it also gets 60 mpg. The VW is diesel, which as 999 probably knows, is the most advanced diesel of today, and is quieter, cleaner (in CFCs), does not smell, and is smoother than gas. What would you rather have? An extremely low quality Honda Insight (I sat in one at an auto show, and it is the lightest and tinniest car I've ever been in. When you sit down, the thing slants SO much.), that goes "put...put....put....(battery turns on)hummmmmmm....put....put (90mph)". Or would you rather have a high quality Volkswagen TDI? (The TDI [turbodiesel direct injection] is available in the Jetta, Golf, Eurovan, and Beetle, the V10 TDI will be in the Passat soon) That goes "VVRROOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!! (shift) VRRROOOOOM! (shift) VROOOOOOMM!! (shift) VRRRRROOOOOMMM!! (shift)VROOOMMMM (140mph)" For anyone that knows rally racing, you'll know the Paris-Dakar Rally Race, the biggest rally race in the world (on a Kia commerical, they have a car racing in the Paris-Dakar race, you remember, the one when the guy says "...and no deorderant!", note that Kia has never finished a race) and that last year, Volkswagen won first and second place with stock Golf TDIs, because they had to stop to fill up so few times. So if you get a Golf TDI, you can brag that it won the largest and most grulling race in the world. Can a Honda Insight or Toyota Prius do that? HA! They can't even do 100mph! While VW TDI can do 140mph with ease, only limited by the computer, which won't let you do damage to the engine by going over 140mph. The Honda and Toyota have a 0-60 of over 15 seconds, while VW TDI is 10.1 seconds, which is not that bad, but because it's diesel, with the low end torque, 0-30 is hilariously fast, it sucks your eyeballs into your brain. Hey 999, you said that you "cut him off as my fin was rising."? "I cut him off as my fin was rising" can have many different meanings just by itself. I'm not going to mention any of them though. Just foolin' wit ya 999.

999!! Guess what! Just announced today, the Passat W8 will be selling in Europe, and soon to be coming to the US!! Sorry, but the Corrado is not the fastest production VW now :-( The W8 engine is 275hp with 273ft/lb! It has 32 valves, which is 4 valves per cylinder, not as good as Audi's 5-V engine (5 valves per cylinder). 0-60mph is 6.5 seconds with manual, 7.8 seconds with Tiptronic!! The manual is 6-speed, and auto-triptronic is 5-speed. It also of course has AWD. It comes standard with 17" wheels, and 4 exhaust pipes. Go to to read about it and see a bunch of pictures. Sorry 999, but now the Passat is the fastest production VW.

The volvo is getting a little more attractive. My Mom had one when I was in highschool. I haven't seen what the new ones looked like.<br><br>The car I have my eyes on now is the porsche GT2. The CD/Radio and AC are free options, yes, they don't even charge for them. True to the racing spirit, every form or excess weight has been nixed or made into a free option.<br>

Lexus SC430 kicks. It's got the hard top convertible identical to my SLK 230. But the Ferrari 550 Maranello is the best of all. That thing handles like a dream, and you feel like you're about to take off in a plane when you accelerate. Ahhhghhhhghhh...<br>*starts dreaming*<br>"I am the king of this city. I like the Porsche 996 Turbo better, and the Lamborghini Diablo. Are you really that rich Moose that you can afford a Ferrari 550? You should get a Porsche 996 Turbo, one of the world's best handling cars, and is about the same cost of a Ferrari. Then you can put a sticker on the back that says "My other car is a Ferrari."

You know, as sad as it pains me to say it, I am looking forward to the new 7 (RX7). My friend saw them in Japan not to long ago and says their pretty hot.<br><br>I mean for a mass volume production car, it's pimp that it can hold G in a turn right off the lot :)<br><br>Oh and Warren, as of this decade Japan has started creating it's own styleguides for it's cars. They're tall and boxy, like an anime car. Right now, they're limited to only japan because of their tiny death-box sizes, but I have to admit, they *do* look japanese at first glance. You're not left thinking, "Hey, that's the front of end of X and that's the side paney of Y and that's the rear end of Z!!!" Anyhow, right now the designs are by honda and a few other Japan only companies. Their mainly minivans (with 13" wheels!), but if you pick up any recent issue of BestoKa- (Best Car(jap mag)), you're sure to find a nice little section on all the highly modded and sweet looking minivans described above. <br><br>A restaurant I eat lunch at everyday stocks Best Car for it's patrons, perhaps I'll take a digital camera and snap shots. The last issue had a killer evolution on the Skyline, admittedly, another hot car.<br><br>Moose: the verdict is out, Lexus Fexus, they sucky long time...<br><br>
