Ya, we should have it not load pictures on the summary page. That would be good for threads like this one. And on lots of threads it doesn't load the summary if the thread is huge, atleast for me.

It doesn't take more than 15 seconds to load for me. But just don't reply to this thread if it's a problem.

nah, the summary should load only the last page of the thread, like most forums do.

But then what's the point of it? Just don't make it load pictures...

RALLY HO! GUESS WHAT I'M DOING THIS WEEKEND!!! GOING TO THE MAINE FOREST RALLY SCCA PRORALLY CHAMPIONSHIP 2001!!!!!!!!!!!! And guess who'll be racing there! The Volkswagen New Beetle rally car! AHH!! I'M TOO EXCITED!! AHH!! There will be many VW's, Audi's, and a few Porsche's, but unfortunately, the far majority of the cars will be Mitsubishi and Ford :-( There's no word about Skoda, Peugeot, or Lancia (the common Euro winners). I don't care who wins the race, as long as it's not a Jap or American car (WRC [World Rally Championship] is European, no Japanese or Amerikaner should win). This will be my FIRST rally race! Because WRC is not that popular in the US. Nor Le Mans or World Series racing is either, only that stupid NASCAR. I want either VW, Audi, Porsche, or Saab to win, which is with the odds. I think there's a Volvo racing too, but I'm not sure. Here's a random pic of a rally race in Sweden, this is a Skoda Octavia - And here's a pic of a Peugeot 206 WRC rally car (my dream job in the future is to be a rally car driver for Peugeot) Image Image Here's the two VW Golf TDI's (turbocharged direct injection diesel) that won first and second in the world's biggest rally race, the Paris-Dakar -

Hi everyone! I just got back from the Maine Forest Pro-Rally Race! It was SOOOOOOOOOO awesome!! I wanted the VW New Beetle Rally car to win, but they changed drivers, and well, the new driver sucks. The New Beetle used to come in the top 3 in it's class with the original driver, but this time came in 49th of 88 :-( The top 4 places were, 1st Mitubishi (the driver had no concern for personal safety, it was too funny), 2nd some stupid Hyundai, 3rd Subaru WRX (33 of the 120 cars in the race were Subarus), and 4th was this awesome Audi Quattro S2 (that thing should of won, he was going so hilariously fast). You know it's a good race when after a car passes, you can feel the crunching of sand in your teeth :-) I took a much of pictures, I getting them developed now and will post them tomorrow probably. AND, you'll get to see the first picture of ME! Because the driver of the New Beetle Rally car let ME sit in his car!! And believe me! Those rally racing seats are COMFORTABLE! It fits your ass perrrrfectly in the groove ;-) You all have seen the Beetle Rally commercial on TV right? (if you can't remember, they're on www.volkswagen.com in the Beetle section). That's the car that I put my ass in (well, there is only 1 Beetle Rally car, number 61). We had the PERFECT observation place. It was on top of a perfectly flat high up (about 4.5 feet) rock, with the view of to the right (where the cars come) is the high speed right 90 degree turn (60-100mph around this turn, and believe me, many of the cars almost went off the track) and a short straightaway across us, then a longer right 90 degree turn to the left. You'll see when I post the pictures. Rally racing is SOOOO much better than that stupid NASCAR, because who wants to see a bunch of dumb cars going around in a circle? There was this guy right at the crash point of the turn to our right that had a video camera on a tripod, and an Audi 4000 came around the curve going about 70-80mph, and tried to take the turn on the inside, but slid sideways came within 1 foot of hitting the camera. We watched the video on the camera to see it up close, and it was hilarious. I didn't take a picture of that, but I have another one of a sliding Audi, and you'll probably be able to see the tire marks on the road from the previous crazy Audi and see how close it came to smacking the video camera. The terrain for the leg of the race that we saw was a combination of tarmat on the bottom and gravel on top, which makes a lot of dust in the air, and skidding on turns. There were no Peugeots, Skodas, SEATs, Renaults, Opels, Ladas, or anything not sold in America there, except this one Irish team that had a 1980's Vauxhall. I was surprised at how many non-English speaking people were there, because rally racing is no unpopular with Americans. I'd say about 1/3 of the rally teams there were American or Canadian, the rest were French, German, Swedish, Polish (A LOT of Polish Audi teams), Italian, Norwegian, Dutch and Hollish, and Spanish. Even in the observers (not as many as I had excepted, but was good for one in the US, not crowded at all, just perfect) most of the observers spoke German or French. 90% of the English speakers I saw were from the Subaru team (the Subaru team was HUGE!) We shared our rock with some guys from the Subaru team. We kept joking around about Japanese cars. Subaru, as you may know, is not really that Japanese, but much more European. If I was held at gun point and was told to buy a Japanese car, I'd get a Subaru, it's the only Japanese car company I have respect for. They were telling us all about previous rally races, and about the cars that passed. I learned that the reason they backfire on purpose is to keep up the RPMs of the turbocharger while decelerating. There was this one car that was coming up, and it made the loudest backfire I'd ever heard. I was literally louder than a shotgun blast. It made everyone on the rock, and around us jump. Then just before it came to view, it did a huge backfire again, and one of the Subaru guys said "That doesn't sound to healthy" and I said to my dad "Bet ya 50 bucks it's a Subaru!" and all the guys collapsed laughing, but then the car was a stupid Mitubushi. The race was sooo good, even though VW Audi didn't win, but Audi has won enough times in the Maine Forest Rally. They won 1st in 1991, again in 1991 (winter rally), 1992, 1993, again in 1993 (winter rally), 1994, again in 1994 (winter), 1996, 1997, and 1998. And the funny thing is, Subaru has never done better than 3rd in this race. Unforunately, I think they've stopped the winter rally, but I'm not sure. Go to and go to the motorsports section, and see if there's any rally races near you, I VERY highly recommend going to one!

Sorry, I was going to, but my dad kept yelling for me to get off because we were going to go to Walmart to drop off the film. But for the record, that's the second time, Randall, that you've told me to separate the huge paragraph into many separate ones :-)

Here's a better site for a schedule for Rally racing in the US -
