Yes, Jar Jar is supposed to be Jamaican. But he's a moron pansy. ARGH! Why couldn't this droid things have killed him? Or one of those big sea monsters eat him when he went swimming?

One thing's for sure: somebody screwed royally when the script was filmed. You see, Darth Maul was suppose to kill Jar Jar, and not Kwai Gon. In fact, the whole thing was an accident. But if Jar Jar died, all the human race (except Ideot) wouldn't have nobody to badmouth about in the film. So, he has at least one function. Lucas very smartly let the accident be.
:P

I'd like to say that while I did not like Jar Jar himself, I did enjoy seeing his silly ass in the movie. Hear me out, I fucking loved it everytime that Qui-Gon made a snide remark to him about his ignorant stupidity or when Qui-Gon grabbed his stupid tongue and told him to stop it. In addition, I will say that every other character in the movie was stone-cold serious with grave concern about everything; it was nice to see a bit a (albeit bad) comic relief to the entirely too serious characters.

I also heard from a starwars nut that jar jar was supposed to be a youngin' andreally dumb and adolescent in the movie. Yet, by the time the Clone Wars came about (many years later), Jar Jar should have matured into a serious adult gungan, just like some of the warriors that were seen in episode 1. So I'll give Jar Jar a break, as long as he is a bit more mature in the next episode.

yeah hes a general now and after the victory over the droids (nothing to do with him of course) he'll probably be leading soldiers or something in ep2.
some say the reason he was so lucky is because he is tuned into the force but doesn't know it. i don't want him to become a jedi, though.

i have a bad feeling about this.
