Well, I think the whole midi-chlorian thing was scripted in because they needed a way to quantify Anakin's strength in the force; "He has a higher midi-chlorian count than Yoda". I think it's a bit off the wall to try and invent a biological explanation for something like that. If they can test a blood sample and see that there are midi-chlorian swimming around in it, then what's to stop them from isolating and concentrating midi-chlorian, then injecting them in someone to make them more powerful.
I also thought the immaculate conception thing went a bit overboard as well (if not downright heresy to some Christians). I got the impression that Lucas and co-writers felt the need to really drive home how powerful and different Anakin was, and they did it poorly with the midi-chlorian and immaculate conception deal.

I'm a big Star-Wars fan, just those two things didn't click with me in Phantom Menace.

Dan East

That's what pissed me off. I can swallow the Jar Jar thing, I suppose he was meant to lighten up things a little. But the midi-chlorian could have been left out.

the immaculate conception is nothing new, and since there are some freaks who believe in the force as a religion; that makes it even more feasible.

Many religions, not just christianity have a virgin birth, so this is nothing new or heresy that the christian can really complain about, because their religion wasnt even the first to have or record one of these virgin births. I can guarantee that they tried though.

By all of my counts they've ruined Star Wars.

Oh, no! Could we PLEASE not transform this thread into a religious discussion? I respect everybodys beliefs but lately PM has become a religious forum.

Darth Maul was the apprentice, and Palpatine was the Sith master, right? Who will be the apprentice in Episode 2, Anakyn? Or that will only happen in the 3rd Episode?

No, this is the episode when Anakyn and ugly princes girl make it in the sack so Leia is born. No wait, that's episode 3, we need family friendly stuff in Star Wars. So now they're just going to start courting each other.

But wasn't Leia Luke's twin sister? Wasn't he born after the Clone Wars?

Okay, this might do it. I'll speak for all of the Christian freaks now. I am a Christian. I smoke cigarettes, 'bout a pack a day, I drink beer and cocktails and get wasted and puke everywhere constantly, i swear like a trucker, i have had and will have much more pre-marital sex. I don't preach about my religion or force it on others, I lead by my own 'good' example, and never once mention God or religion to others, unless someone asks me personally and seriously, without me ever bringing it up. I don't sit on street corners throwing Bibles at people and telling them their religions are wrong (Do you want other people throwing Buddha Statues at you and sya that you are not enlightened and you will never make it to your 7th life?) and I dont spread joy and happiness and want to 'praise the lord' every chance I get. I don't tell people to 'come to my church' because it's a bible church and yours isn't; I dont think that Catholics will go to hell because they believe in Saints and worship the Virgin Mary. I don't get up on top of lunch tables in between classes and spout about fire and brimstone and hell OR how everlasting peace and joy is found through God and Jesus. I am not perfect, I will not strive to be perfect (thus striving to be like Jesus=God), for I am happy with who I am and what God has made me. God wants me to be happy on Earth, so I will be by doing what pleases me, because when I am pleased he is too. Think of that. I dont' Evangelize to everyone on the street because 99-100% of the people actually listening will not become a Christian because of the silly people preaching on the streets, do they want to become like that? Or let me rephrase for the internet, Fredrik and Moose do you really think anyone is going to want to become a Christian because of your 'flagrant happiness and pushy ways of God giving forgiveness' on everyone? No, they think your a Christian freak and be glad that they aren't one. On the other hand, I havent said one word until now cause its making a bit sick; I the normal Joe or whatever dont go around preaching about love and eternal live or damnation or God at all, unless someone directly asks me in an honest serious question, why are you so happy, why is your life so good. If they truly want to know, I might tell them about God, if they are interested, if not, I shut up and pass it off as if nothing happened. I haven't read the whole Bible, in fact I've only read about half of the Old Testament and a Book or tow in the New; which is actually more than most 'Christians' who want to automatically get into a quoting debate about what this and that means. Frankly, I don't give a fu ck about your views and if I did, I wouldn't argue with you and try to change your mind. It's sad, but unavoidable that one day, you will become disillusioned and your entire faith will not just be tested but demolished. It's human nature to say, especially when you're young, 'not me! my faith is too strong, i will be perfect forever!' So I don't care about those silly responses, don't bother. And if it truly doesn't happen, either congratulations you are Jesus, or you never lived. Don't bother to comment or respond to this, because I will not respond back or speak of this again. It is an old subject and detrimental to what this board is supposed to be about, the Pocket PC. If you really care about Christianity or God or Jesus or Evangelism, shut up and lead by example not empty words.

Do you know him Randall?
I've learned that what we are meant to do is make love. All those other things; sleeping, eating, going to school, are just to pass time till we make love again.
