The best episode of Bugs Bunny, an informal poll

Ok, I got it encoded with a total bitrate of 450 at 288x240. I only get about 15fps though in PocketTV fullscreen though.
Should I go lower in something? The VBR is at 350kbps.

15 fps doesnt sound right, you should be getting 25 or so. Was this with a bunch of stuff running in the background?

when you go to settings in the VBR part, make sure you have the quality slider at about 50(50 is default)

Hmm. No, i rebooted and made sure everything was shutdown and having 12MB of program memory free.
The file is 23.05MB
Total bitrate: 452kbps
WidthxHeight: 288x240
VBR: 350 kbps
Coded Framerate: 25fps
Audio: MPEG-1 Layer 2 96kbps Stereo 44.1KHz

Yet, its still playing at 15fps on my @migo. I AM playing it off of a flash card though....even with the read-ahead buffer Microdrive option i get 15fps. :(

Aaah. I encoded it using a CBR, not a VBR. Would that make such a large difference in framerate?

Is there a spot on this site that explains how to get/encode/play these files? I should think it would be useful...but it pobably exists.

*awaiting someone to point something obvious out to me in a jibing way*

Speaking of which RICoder, i think i will use the settings on the DVD to MPG How-To right here at PocketMatrix. Why I didn't before I dunno, but I think I will try that out now and see how my vids come out.

Yep.
I'm re-encoding in that CQ_VBR now as written in your [Chris's] HOW-TO, in the hopes that works out ok.
I can encode WMV's perfectly, but I have probs with MPEG b/c its not as seamless I guess :)

:( I'm only getting 18-20fps now at the Medium Quality Video/Sound settings of the DVD to MPG PM How-To. Landscape mode that is.
My video IS at 288x240. Do you think thats too large to flow at a higher frame rate?

I d/led a video for PocketTV that was 320x240 and played it...same...about 18fps. So i'm guessing thats just a limitation of the hardware then with that size? b/c i'm looking at this how-to and the resolution at best is 320x144...which cuts out a lotta pixels to be rendered and saves frames. but this video is not a letterbox video.

I watch videos at full frames(29fps). High quality movies are usually 25 frames. And we are using the same device, not sure what the deal is.
