I found one of my images that illustrates this.<br><br>Image<br><br>Four of these columns are 1 pixel from the floor, and cast a shadow. The one without a shadow is a func_wall.<br><br>Both methods do the same thing, and result in the same FPS. I would default to the 1 pixel method in this instance, since the shadows are important for this atmosphere.

I love that picture btw, the lighting makes it great, I would like to see that in a map, or have you already put it in one of your maps?

nope, it's not a map. Its just a sample I threw together to illustrate how the different techniques affect lighting. I created it some time ago for one of the tutorials.
