Library Girl Thread

Postby James S » Feb 5, 2002 @ 3:29am

Hey, youth group girl invited me to her prom in an odd manner during a conversation we were having and I didn't get a chance to respond because the invitation was kind of swept away in the conversation. So I got her email address and I'm going to email her... well, I was ... but that was 2 hours ago and I just now got her email so I've lost the blind bravery I had that short while ago... Don't worry, I'll get it again. Hopefully by the end of tonight, maybe by tomorrow afternoon.

I've got it... I'll just listen to some of the songs that alter my mood, perhaps Boyz II Men, The Calling, Usher. That will get me in the mood to email her.

Realize that women will never change their nature.

A frog was sitting next to a running brook when a scorpion approached him.
The scorpion said "Excuse me, but would you be willing to give me a ride across the brook on your back?"
The frog responded "Certainly not. If I do what is to stop you from stinging me en route?"
The scorpion then said "If I do that, then we will both drown, so it would make no sense for me to do that."
The frog thought about that and agreed, and they headed across the brook. About half way across, the scorpion stung the frog.
As they were sinking the frog said "Why did you do that? Now we will both drown!"
The scorpion responded "You should have known this would happen. It's in my nature."

Chuck choice of words is poor, but you've got to do something. Of course, I'm sitting over here half afraid to check my email now :P. But I felt so amazingly better just by pushing that send button. In the end it's not going to matter how she responds but just that it's off my sholders makes me feel so much better about everything.

If you do send her an email out of the blue then it better have a long introduction, Paul. If you know she's looked at you and seen you then you could say something like, "hey, I saw you between the two speakings in the auditorium in the hall. I thought I'd introduce myself but I'm not sure when our paths will cross again. Maybe we could change that ;)" or something smooth like that. You see how easy it is?

Aside from my resentment that Chuck stole my avatar...

What paul realizes, is that at this point Library Girl is best desired from afar rather than actually engaged. See, so much time and thought has passed that she has assumed an aura of perfection that reality could never live up to. Therefore, it is better to hold onto that perfect image, than to talk to her and see it fade away.
