problem when I remover CF card

Whenever I remover my CF card (which has the majority of my programs on it, games, map program, etc...) I can no longer start those programs using the menu short cuts. It will give the following message:
"Cannot find "(name of program)" (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and all the required libraries are availabe."

I can still start the programs by browsing on the CF card to their exe files, but what a drag that is.
I can reinstall the programs and it will be fine, but as soon as I remove the card again, the links are broken.
Any ideas?
I used to be able to swap cards no problem, but now I cannot.

try just a soft reset, or try clicking the link a few times and see if it works it out. sometimes my ppc forgets its links and then remembers them in a few minutes.

Sorry, i should have been a little more clear. Once I have removed the card and THEN re-installed it, the shortcuts no longer work.
