New Quake2 Version?

New Quake2 Version?

Postby mark (killzat) » Feb 9, 2002 @ 11:35am

Dan when are you planning for the next release, with Quake1 it was much sooner, but with Q2 are you having more trouble because there hasn't been a status update in ages?

Please don't drop out just because it's now open source, few people ever bother to pickup the source, not least because PPC programming isn't common enough knowledge yet.

If you're not doing it anymore then just say so, thanks.

He's got a real life, DEXplor to program, medical apps to debug, and a family to take care of. He's already applied all of the work he did on Quake1 to Quake2 immediately so lots of speed upgrades and fixed point conversations are already in use.

I want a fixed point version of Quake I. Someone was working on it, and I don't remember who, but it never got finished. GET BACK TO WORK! JK ;). I'm sure that Dan is working hard on all of his projects. Good luck, and I can't wait to see the next release.

No there was one about Q2 as well, related to how much Dan could or couldn't change certain things. We never found out quite what happened in the end, Dan probably didn't either.

Also..
"He's already applied all of the work he did on Quake1 to Quake2 immediately so lots of speed upgrades and fixed point conversations are already in use."

In an older post I'm looking at he states that only "some" of the FPM from Q1 has been added in for the first release, he said there's still more to check out and possibly cross over. What version of the code are you talking about?
