Lawfull, the menus all respond to the "Action" button, which is exactly equivilant to the "Enter" key on a PC. I would be rather surprised if a Pocket PC was created without an Action button, as I'm pretty sure that is a Microsoft requirement. You may take a look at the owner's manual just to see what key they are calling the Action button, because that is what should work. To verify you have found the Action button, try pulling up the File Explorer on your Pocket PC. If you press the Action button then the selected item in the explorer will be launched / opened. If that works in File Explorer but not PQ, then let me know so I can look into it.

Just ignore Moose, or anyone else that wants to join in a battle of wits. I guess everyone goes through that hyper-intellectual phase at some point. :(

LOL, he signed as Lawless. I hope that was intentional.

I didn't start anything with Lawless. You guys kept trying to tell him to push in on the Jornada's D-Pad, and I knew that's not a button the Jornada. I was pretty sure that the wheel on the left side of the device was a mandatory feature of all PocketPC's, kind of like the wheel on mice these days. But he could always just tap the "Fire" or "Open" buttons on the skin, those work too.

Yes sir, you are correct. My main action button is located on the front of the unit, just below the navigation pad. I also have an up button, down button and a rec button on the left side (as opposd to the iPAQ's scroll and pressure wheel). I believe the rec button may also be used as an action button for some progs.

However, none of the buttons work to either navigate the menu or select an item. I can reach the menu by pressing the menu item on the touch screen with the stylus but I cannot scroll down or select aything. By default, the single player choice is automatically selected when the menu comes up, but I cannot record the selection with my action button (or any of the other 8 buttons). The touch screen works to bring up the menu, close the menu, minimize the game and end the demo (which plays and sounds fine). But none of the buttons work for the Jornada 568.

In installed the 0062_ARM ver, cfg and PAK for the ipaq which has the same processor and OS as the Jornada. Should work. (I even tried removing, re-downloading and installing ALL other versions, including the PAK, multiple times, of course without success...

All files are installed in the proper root dir /quake/ID1/ (not my docs) or /windows/start menue/progs/games/ for the exe.

Do you know of anyone who has sucessfully played PQ with the Jornada 56X series?

Thanks,
Lawfull

If someone with a Jornada 56x would download the tool and post the results we could easily obtain the address of the buttons so PocketQuake could be updated in little time.

Have you tried tapping the skin buttons? They might also be able to activate a menu option.

No, the iPaq's sleeve system physically prohibits the placement of any controls on on the sides of the device. There is a record button on the top left side of the iPaq, but since it is at the very top they could just notch the sleeve out around it.

I debated on even telling you guys this... but....

I took the Jornada back and bought the new iPAQ 3835.

So there. I did it. I like it. And PQ works fine... Thanks for all your help.

See? I knew that Pocket Quake would work perfectly on your Pocket PC! Sometimes it just takes a little tweaking to get the hardware configured properly. :D
