if it comes down to it though, i bet you that you can get usb functionality with a sleeve on the ipaq too

the iPaq does not have the basic drivers required. The E-200 comes with them preloaded into ROM.

If I really tried I could connect my USB Camera to my Microwave! The point is you just plug in the USB thing in the E-200 and it works.

you still need the PPC2002 drivers for the individual USB device. I can't take my joystick and plug it into the device and have it work out of the box. Same thing with my USB printer or USB network device.

More generic devices like keyboard and mouse might have drivers built in, though.

yeah, and USB HOST is a hardware thing.. so unless compaq somehow came up with a magic sleeve that added a USB host through the um.... thingie with the uh... you know the slot with the thing and took up the whatchamacallit, it um...

Well I was writing a reply but it vanished.

Anyway. I've decided on the E200. Even though I think the Ipaq 38xx looks a lot nicer, I like the expandability of the E200 and the fact that I can change the batteries. As a recovering electronics technician, these things appeal to me.

I should have it by Friday. So you'll hear more from me.
