hi,

i'm interested in porting quake to a non-intel platform, does anyone know how to get it to compile using the c-only code and not the x86 asm ?

thanks,

bobby

Pocket Quake uses absolutely no x86 asm.

PocketQuake is also compiled for a non-intel platform already. ARM is ARM, not x86, and SH 3 and MIPS are also not x86. MIPS and SH3 have nothing to do with Intel.

I don't know anyone who uses an Intel platform. I use MS windows xp. That's a microsoft platform, and I have a AMD Athlon slot A processor, which is not made by intel either. My computer is intel free.

Not true. Your Athlon CPU contains x86 code licensed to AMD by Intel.

any pointers

Postby bobby » Mar 6, 2002 @ 4:55pm

i'm thinking of a port to the GP32.

it's a 66Mhz ARM9T with 8MB ram and a smartcard interface.

if anyone could give me pointers about the source, what i need to change and where to start, that would be cool.

i think the actual hardware is very similar (the ARM9T is very similar to the strongarm core) so it might be quite easy to build on the work of pocketquake and do this port.

rob

ps. i realise that it (probably) will never achive full framerate, even after heavy optomisation. but i've been working on arm processors, so if i have enough time i could probably rewrite most of the critical sections in asm.
