Forget Mrs. Russia, go for the metal head. She soudns better anyway. But just say hi one day. Then when you're out of the classroom wait for her by the door and walk with her a ways while you ask her out. You should never ask a girl out infront of other people, it's awkward and they think it might be to just show off that you did "score" later on or something. Don't become friends with her first, don't talk to her first except for hi. Just walk with her a ways and ask her out right from the beginning. She could very possibly say yes, if she does that then say "great, here's my number. I've got to go, call me when you get home!" and dart back the opposite way. You have to remember: leave on a high note whenever possible. That last impression that you leave on will stick with her more than you saying "hi" at the beginning of the conversation. If you leave like that on a high note she'll always remember that high note and think you're great regardless of anything else.
I think that approach would work very well for you, you should try it. Don't be shy or anything, don't work up to it and make it a big deal. just, tomorrow (!), execute the plan. Wait for her outside the door after class, walk with her down the hall and ask
"Uhm, hey, err..."
"hi, it's metalhead_girl"
"Metalhead_girl, cool. Would you like to go out with me sometime."
"... err, ya sure. Why not!"
"great, here's my number, my name's Warren. I've got to go now, but call me when you get home!"
"uh, ya... ya, great. I'll do that!"
It's the "catch them unawares" tactic and it really does work great. Don't say anything dumb like "I was wonder if ..." or "could I ask you something ..." or "Hi, I'm in your Driver's Ed. class, and..." Those are just dumb fillers that give the impression that you don't really know how to get to the point. Just get to the point quick and get out. If she says no then just say "cool, just thought I'd ask. See ya later."
