Damn, T1! Someone would have to have a degree in Rhetoric to make an arguement that would convince you!

*Jumps on the MIPS bandwagon, then falls off in the "arms" of XSCALE* Ahhh, my hero!

Damn straight! :) Actually, before i joined PM, i never really participated in web discussions, forums, etc, i just read what i needed and moved on. But i liked PM and the fact that, because replying to messages takes time, i can voice my opinions calmly, without swearing and without getting irritated easily...unlike me in real life! But i seem to be starting to forget that nowadays... Seriously though, this Arm vs Mips discussion is getting kinda stupid. It's a pointless argument anyway, can't we all just be happy with the device we prefer?

Unless this new proc contains the ARM instruction set, it won't make it into any future PPCs. Being Mips based, that kills it right there. A completely new PDA and OS would have to be built around it.

So you are going to have to come at me with something more than this.

In the future, the only chip that has a chance to make it into PPCs is the Transmeta Crusoe, since its instruction set layer can be morphed. Essentially becoming any processor. It isn't capable of morphing "on-the-fly", so dreams of having an X86 one minute and an ARM or Mips the next are not feasible.
