I got an Ipaq 3870 right now but I am waiting for the new xscales to come out so I can get one of those. They have better battery life than the current PPC's do so in turn will last longer with a pc card hard drive on them. My Ipaq has been having some problems and has been send to the shop 4 times now this month and is really starting to annoy me so that is the main reason i am looking for a new PPC and figure than I should get an xscale if I am going to go through all the trouble. Thanks for the help. If anyone else has some comments about the drive, I would love to hear em. one last thing, is there any differnece in the Kingston and toshiba drive?

Here is a link to a HD with a built in battery, so it will last longer. It says its for an HPC but as far as I can tell, it should work with any device running WinCE 2.11 or higher as long as you have a Type II PC Card slot. I know Ipaqs dont have PC card slots so here is a link to an adapter too.

The only difference between the Kingston and Toshiba PC Card hard drives are the stickers stuck on each. For some reason I keep leaning towards Kingston, though. They've been making storage cards and only storage cards for a while now and have probably perfected the method since that is their only business.

thanks TechMage I havent looked at compaqs addons page in a while. apparently they have a new pc card adapter. PC Card Expansion Pack Plus it can take 1 type 2 pc card aka the kingston data pack drive and it has a set up so I can add a batter to it. from so of the stuff I am looking at it should give me anywhere from 5-10 hours of battery life with the hard drive on there. thanks again guys.

I'm surprised WMP uses such a small cache. You may take a peek at its settings, then the registry to see if you can set a larger cache size.
