stupid dreams

Postby randall » Apr 21, 2002 @ 10:05am

Um, this is a "holy shit", because I have had CPR performed on me twice in the last 6 years. Although like Dan said, maybe I still had a pulse.

I didn't state this before, because doctors didn't have answers so I figured it had little relevence. So I ignore it and don't speak about it- denial is not something I am fond of.

This is actually the second time I have wound up in the hospital, for the same reason. The first time was 6 years ago. I went off my medication after about 6 months because it was affecting my job and I figured it was just a "freak accident"- a one time deal.

This second time had me more concerned- 5 minutes previous I was alone in an indoor pool taking measurements. I went back to the office because I was tired and didn't feel like doing anything. Nothing abnormal. I will be medicated for the rest of my life until there is a solution.

Well Moose, I suppose I died and came back with some kind of special ability. I now have the ability to web-sling throughout the city. Take that Paul. :)

There is nothing wrong with me, Moose. I am perfectly healthy. I think the only way I could die is if there is a complication or a freak accident. I am only taking a single medication, in a dose I am supposed to build up a tolerance. Seriously, its not a big deal which stating exactly what happened would make it seem simply stupid- the meds messed me up more than anything.

Although my heart is a little odd, I think. It normally beats around 50 beats per minute when I am up and walking around. Exercise raises it slightly depending on the strain. It appears to have a strong beat, which I hope will not end up blowing a valve one of these days.

Mine goes at 90 per minute! Sometimes it goes crazily fast, sometimes really slow. If I'm really tired, sloooow, but if I'm awake, fast. Exercise really doesn't affect it, it's funny. I can sit there for a half-hour, then run 3 miles, and my heart rate won't change much, maybe by 10 or 20 more.

My grandmother had a mechanical valve, she had to take drugs to make it work.

mine is 96 right this minute. There's nothing wrong with a beat like that, just go for a run aroudn the block every other day for two weeks and it will go down substantially.

I have no medical conditions beside corrective lenses, either glasses or contacts depending. I'm hoping to get my eyes lasered for my 18th birthday in 6 months, so that will take care of that. I've only been to the doctor twice, for two sets of immunizations. I'm healthier than anyone else in my family.

GERD: gastro esophagial reflux disorder, or heart-burn right? I took anatomy, I like that kind of stuff.
Dan, you're a doctor? I'm interested in the field of medicine and becoming a doctor. What's med-school like? How many cadavers did you inspect? What did you have to do to get into med school? How hard did you have to study? Et cetera...
