Postby Cam » May 10, 2002 @ 3:16am

I also dug out the log from our conversation:

[15:25] <rastaman8> chance?
[15:25] <edden> because i waiting for source of the last Ver of fpse which is more stable....

[15:25] <edden> From Authors: fpse.emuunlim.com
[15:27] <edden> PS boot, then show the Logo, and then after load the ISO and show the copyright, and then i don't know... that Exit with an error, which i 'm searching for now :)
[15:28] <rastaman8> heh
[15:29] <edden> but the problem is that i got only ONE small ISO which don't work all the Time in the same windows version....
[15:30] <edden> so i prefer to test with another ISO before searching....
[15:30] <rastaman8> ah, I getcha
[15:31] <edden> the version 0.9 has a Recompiler which seem to be portable on any other CPU than X86, so if authors send me this version, i think that the emulator would be playable....

ARE YOU LISTENING TO MEAN!!! PowerVR just finished working on a PDA 3D graphics Chipset called the PowerVR MBX, its based on the unreleased KYRO III, and runs at 100mhz, it also has a T&L engine(though that wouldnt help out that much, unless you could use it for things other than just Graphics, like that new Video card from 3Dlabs) GBA is only 16.25mhz, and the problem with emulating it... dunno... i have yet to start working on my GBA emulator. I do know though, that you have to emulate the Thumb Instruction Set.

ASM can make huge speed differences if used correctly. its way faster than C++. C is faster than C++!!! C with some ASM is FAST!! depending on how its coded. now that 33mhz processor shouldnt be to hard to emulate. the problem is writing the code to actually emulate, as emulating a z80 is hard enough!!(if you try to write the code yourself, though if you have experience in things like this, it should be easier, which i dont, never coulded an emu before) sure, Quake may be able to run on a 75mhz PC, i ran it on my 486DX 66mhz/ OC/ed 80mhz. and it run nicely, though not as good as i expected. But you got to rember, 1mb VRAM is a shit load more than the >256kb of vram that PocketPC's have.

Of course ASM is faster... the low you get, the more control.. the more speed.
The trick is, can you do an emulator on ASM?
I dont think so?
Yes, yes.. ASM is everything.. of course it is, its like talking to the processor directly. Unfortunatly, he talks in a very hard way.
I'de rather have C.

Hate JAVA.. I don't know what's the deal with Java. It's even slow on my XP1800+(very few things..).
The SUN applications on JAVA sucks.
The ORACLE applications on JAVA sucks.
The Borland applications on JAVA .... are slow.

Return C....

Phantom, I actually think that the PS does support translucencies. I do seem to be recalling a few games using it, the names which are escaping me now.

That would be kinda cool to emulate PSX on a PPC. But for now we are stuck with PS1 or lugging a laptop along to play on the road. :(
