XScale processor . . . drop-in?

Is this processor physically and electrically compatable with the previous ARM processors?

If so . . . can we just crack open our PPC and drop it in or what?

I doubt it, haven't looked it up though. But I don't think it's physically compatible, it just shares the same instruction set/architecture as the current arm processors

Give it a shot, and tell us if it works. They are relatively cheap(at least that's what I have read). I am not sure where you would buy just one chip though.
