Ordered the E740

Just got back from Circuit City, they were soldout of the e740 so I had them order me one. They have a pretty sweet deal a free 32meg sd or cf card and a $25 mail in rebate on it. Thet are selling it for 599. I should have it in by wed night or thursday. This is the model with the built in 802.11b wireless card. I hope it is as good as I think it will be. built in 802.11b, cd, and sd slots. plus everything else. I think I will spring for the heavy duty battery though after I test out this one.

I will be more than happy to test any benchmarking app you would like me to try. T1 you said you had an app you wanted someone to test on an xscale. I will be happy to do that for you. I will also do a PQ and PQ2 test. Any configuration method of this would be helpful also. Mainmemory, CF, SD, and MMC is what I will have to test with. I will have both a 3835 and an E740 to do the test with for comparisons if you want me to do something like that.

Well I went to my unfriendly local Circuit City where my brand new shiny E740 should have been. I get there and not only do they not have my unit waiting on me, but they dont have any in and they dont know when they will. So I did what any computer geek would. I drove to every computer place in a 20 mile radius. I was unsuccessful in finding one, but they did have the SKU for it in there systems at BestBuy, CompUSA, and MicroCenter. I have about a 1-2 week waiting period now to get one locally. I would order this online but I want the extended warranty on it and want it from a local store so all I have to do is exchange it. I will keep you updated on when I have it, incase you want me to run some tests on it.

Thanks for the headsup on this. I just went to a Circuit city about 45 miles away since I was in the area and they ordered me one and gave me a 64meg SD card by sandisk for all the trouble I had gone through. The manager there was pretty kickass and told me if it is not in by Saturday he will have me one shipped in by first thing tuesday morning. So I will have me one. The CompUSA's here in ATL are all run by blooming idiots that can barely understand english. I never did have a good experience ever with this chain. BestBuy would not order me one and was really freaking out when I asked them to look up this SKU, so that scared me a little that a store is run like this. So my luck is standing with Circuit City, they have honored my Sub and Amp that I bought back in 98 when I got a new car and they installed it for me for just 50 bucks and gave me an additional 18 month warranty on something already 4 years old.
