7.2 FPS Pocket Quake on new Xscale

Postby Guest » Jun 14, 2002 @ 8:02am

Sorry dude, didn't work. I tried the original executable to make sure I set it up right, and that worked.

You click on it and nothing happens, not even an error message to help you out :(

I haven't given up, yet. I plan on trying out the Pocket PC 2000 SDK to get it to work. I was kind of hasty this first time. BTW, most of my time was spent downloading and installing the SDKs/EVC4, etc... :x It didn't actually take that long to rip out everthing I needed to in order for it to build.

Dan, what kind of errors would you expect if you tried to compile the PocketQuake PPC 2k iPAQ source code with the PPC 2k2 SDK in EVC3?
Die, Palm, Die. If that offended you, then get rid of your Palm OS device.

UPDATE:

The pocket loox machine also has bad performance as well as the toshiba. I strongly advise everyone NOT to buy an xscale machine until you have seen benchmarks that it is fast. It looks like there is a BIG problem here with all xscale machines. They perform slower than an iPaq 206mhz strongarm.

Or, it could be that the xscales only run at their full potential once all of their op codes can be taken advantage of. I have not looked at the new XScale instruntion set at all, but it is possible that intel added some "multifuntion" instructions that perform what, at one time, took 3 clocks in 1 clock, or something like that. But, as I have said, the time I spent studying the XScale instruction set is equal to the time that I spend developing for the palm OS (0).
