What I say is this: I don't agree with it, but it's too big (all over the Constitution, Pledge, Declaration...) to be changed, so who cares.
I remember in the movie I saw last year in history class, All Quiet On The Western Front, about WWI, and it showed a part where an American troop picked up a German helmet, and it said in German "God bless the Fatherland", and he said "HAHAHA! They think God is on their side!". My point is, I think when a nation says God bless their country, that that implied not to be blessed on any other country, symbolizing supremecy. Saying "under God" in the Pledge I think implies that Americans think of themselves as a supreme country, or race...like the "White America" thing.
Paul, yeah, I agree with you a little, drugs and money, that's it. When I was doing my paper on Switzerland, I saw the drugs problems there, all it said was "some heroin from the Middle East", then I clicked on the drug problems in the US, and it was PAGES AND PAGES AND PAGES of lists of drugs!! As for being "free", umm, other countries are free...people here don't realize that. They say "stupid socialist Norway!!" and I'm like "do you even know what socialism is?" and they're like "[blank stare] it's communism!" "umm, no..." "umm, they're not free like us!" "you idiot [punches him]".
Something I have to say is, it's not the type of government that dictates if the government is going to be corrupt, it's the people. The US government is more corrupt than the Communist Chinese government.
