"Anybody can come up with tons of ideas for what they'd like a PPC device to be like."

It's not the idea that's the "problem", it's the execution of the idea.

There's a graphics editing application that I know of for Linux that's open source, free, and is more advanced that the latest Adobe Photoshop which costs $700. That's one good example of how good open source projects can be.
