Hey rob you should subscribe to linux format (www.linuxformat.co.uk). They include the latest mandrake distro in their magazines cd. They also have some good articles. Btw I can get into x at 1024x768.

how do you uninstall red hat? I decided to just format the harddrive, but then lilo caused the comp to freeze ever time I started it up. So, I had to reinstall red hat in order to get into xp.

You need to restore the original bootsector.

Well, guess who messed up the master boot record. Yep, me. Being the intelligent guy I am(), I assumed that lilo -u (which I read about in Red Hat Linux for dummies) uninstalled lilo completely (not just revert to an old save state). So, I ran it again to make sure it was gone, and was informed that I have to run lilo -U if I know what I was doing. Well, I though I did. Long story short, I didn't. Now, I can't get into XP at all. Also, when I installed redhat, I used to get the option to have "dos" as a bottable option, but that no longer appears. Is there any way to fix this, or should I scrap everything (both harddrives) and start over from scratch. I was planning on doing a fresh install of xp soon (but not this soon). Also, I made a backup cd of everything I could think of that might need to be saved incase linux screwed something up (or rather me messing with it), but there are a few things that I would like to check, to ensure that they are saved on the disk. Is there any way to view my xp hard drive from linux?
