The Toshiba e740 uses an ATI Graphics Chip that is as of yet not supported by any software and doesn't look like it will be any time soon.
The XScale processor is hurt a great deal by it's slow memory transfers. There is nothing that can be done, really, and it is just a problem with the processor.

The Loox XScale PocketPC (available in Europe) appears to have overcome these problems however and offers nearly double framerates (supposedly) in PocketQuake I and II.

That's the problem in a nutshell. Don't hold your breath for the problems to be fixed or for the Loox to be brought to America.

On my 3950, I get pretty much the same performance as my 3850. Dissapointing there was no increase but at least now I can actualy SEE the game unlike my 3850 ;)

Two cupcakes were in an oven. One turned to the other and said "Damn, it sure is hot in here" and the other one said "HOLY SHIT! A TALKING CUPCAKE!"

create an autoexec.cfg file that is completely emtpy except for:
timedemo demo1.dem

Then put this file in the \pocketquake\ID1 directory and open up Quake. Let the opening demo run once, after it's done it will show the average FPS.

I'm getting an Intel XScale 300MHz processor with my new pocket pc... will the performance be poor on it?
