The game will be shareware, so there will be portions that will be playable for free. We have yet to discuss exactly what levels / capabilities will be available in the shareware version. It will probably contain only a small portion of the single player levels, not support mods, and possibly have some sort of limitation or restriction on network play.

The bots will be acting as the enemy in the singleplayer game. And certainly, we will be anabling the bots so that people can still play the multiplayer game, kind of like Unreal Tournament. However, the number of bots a device can host is going to affect the FPS.

Actually, when me and Dan were playing it across the internet, we were able to host bots and still shoot at each other.

Can the bots be split up among both devices, so that the FPS loss is equal?

Also, isn't the overhead of the TCP/IP headers enough to make not only the performance slower, but the bandwidth not enough for smooth gameplay? Or is this going to be mostly for WiFi and other high-speed methods.

I'd love to see a PC rendering client, or at least something similar to distributed computing, where all the math is done over WiFi, and all the device has to do is blit. If the latency is too high, should allow for some great framerates. Perhaps if the bots are split in a PPC vs PPC game, it could be done in a PC vs PPC game.

It would be cool (if it's possible) to be able to have a PPC vs. PPC battle connected to a PC to do all the math and bots so the PPCs would get higher frame rates...

It's a shame wireless internet is too slow, as this feature would probably only be useful on a LAN, and even then the latency might be too bad.

It would make a hella cool selling point, 60+ action in high-action environments*
