To reinforce Ref's point - I've just quit my well-paid job as a web developer. Some people think I'm crazy not having another job to go to. I point out to them that I've been unchallenged, demotivated and subject to a ridiculous level of company politics for the last 18 months and I believe this is affecting my happiness and quality of life.

In an ideal world I would never have quit my job. This world is far from ideal.

My point? Always examine the circumstances before making a judgement regarding somebody else's path through life.

The retake cost SOMEBODY something, even if it wasn't you. And it cost you another semester of that same class. So instead of getting through the boredom the first time, you had to sit through it twice.

There have been about 2 classes that I would call useful that i have ever taken in my life. Every class I've taken has been excessively boring and simple minded. Guess what. I've never gotten below a B in my life. I took 8 classes last semester, 18 hours worth of classes, and I got a 3.8GPA for that semester. My quality of life wasn't exactly the greatest. But somehow I managed to bite the bit and do well in all of my 8 classes, none of which I enjoyed. It's not like I don't have lots of reasons to not do well in school, but that's an ignorant and circular excuse.

Just because it's boring doesn't mean you shouldn't do well in it. That's a cop out. You're an idiot because you complain about how boring the class was, but then force yourself to take it AGAIN the next semester.
That's not a path through life, that's falling asleep while the turtle crosses the finish line. And this is fairly, extremely different from a career you're unhappy with. I understand and applaud your choice, jont, because that was a lifetime decision. Happiness is much more important than money. But refractor chose two-fold boredom and a failing grade for what restitution? There are no redeeming factors for refractors choice to "fail" that class, and there are no excuses. You failed the class, there is no "because" or "but" after that. You're taking the same boring class again, and there IS a "because" after that. Because you failed it before.

It doesn't matter. Take multiple shots. I'll upload them to PocketSX's FTP and then give you the URLs and you can post them as you want.
Here's my shot if you want to remember it;

Oh, refractor, I didn't see your post up there. I'm sorry, I thought you meant that you retook the entire class, my mistake. It's not as bad as I originally thought. I'm sorry.

I'm not a hypocrite. Jont's was a career choice and level of satisfaction/happiness is much more important that the amount of money he earns. School is something that you HAVE to do to get that job. It's not something that you can just quit, unless you want to work at the Jiffy Lube cash register for life. But again, I apologize, your situation was not as severe as I initially believed.

It's still stupid to fail a class though.

MacGyver is pretty cool. Have you seen Monk?

Alright. I just found this picture while I was sorting through my papers and couldn't resist scanning it in and post it here. This is a great picture, I love it :D

The picture is self explanatory ;)

And Paul should be posting his picture any time now, he emailed it to me and I found some webspace for it. All is being revealed!
