Okay, funny how you say I'm an idiot when we pretty much agree. I never said that Waterdown was the archetypal emo group nor did I say that they were good. I simply said that they're closer to original emo than Dashboard (who pretty much sucks).
Notice how we both said that emo came from aggressive roots? How we both said that the currently labeled 'emo' bands have little to do with original emo? We essentially agree.
I tried to avoid the ubiquitous Rites of Spring namedropping.
Basically, even if we DIDN'T agree, we could argue about it all day, cuz emo is essentially a misnomer wherever it's applied. All music is emotional, and emo as a label has evolved five million times.
Trae, did you find out about Evan Anthem through my suggestion? They are DEFINITELY emo, as emo has evolved and is generally accepted as describing that kind of music now. They are basically the only emo band I like (though I like some stuff of of Brand New's
Deja Entendu).

I've got plenty more up my sleeves if you're into other genres. It'll be easier to talk with you if you want to on AIM.
