My use for the a716 would actually be to get more family time with my wife and kids....along with the other more "businesslike" aspects it can help me with.
I was heavy into the ipaq scene when they 1st came out, and stayed that way for over a year. Work got busy, my kids started growing up, and the pocketPC and PDA scene slowly fell by the wayside. I sold my ipaq and have missed having a PDA ever since.
My wife and I used to play monopoly, solitire, some GB emulation, and watch a few movies and TV shows on my ipaq. My oldest daughter loved to play PocketPop and MineSweeper on it, and my youngest loved to scribble on the screen just to have fun.
The a716 would have
MUCH more functionality than my original ipaq, and allow us to share the "family" PDA even more. My oldest daughter loves to get on the computer when watching NickJr, and the a716 would allow her to do that from our couch using the wifi network we have at home. She also enjoys a lot of music now, and could use the a716 to stream it from our server, or pop in an SD or CF card with her favorite compilation of songs. My wife and I could play games together again [ maybe even a little PocketPC Kama Sutra

] , and my youngest daughter has grown up enough since then to start using it as more of an educational tool.
Of course, I would be able to utilize it heavily for work use as well. In my job (Switch Technician for a Cellular Phone Company), I have
MANY spreadsheets to keep up with, and am on call 25% of the year. Normally, being on call requires me to carry my laptop EVERYWHERE I go for an entire week at a time. With the a716's built in Bluetooth and my Bluetooth Sony-Ericsson T608 Cell phone, I could connect to work on our 1X data network and VPN into the servers I need to access. VOILA,
no more having to carry my laptop! My work also requires that I travel a lot for training. Being able to check email, surf the net, watch movies, use the wifi at the aiport and hotel, play games, etc. from the ASUS a716 would also mean I could leave my laptop at home for trips too. I can take pictures with my Canon S400, slip the CF card into the a716, connect to the internet via Bluetooth/T608 phone or wifi, and email pictures to my family at home so they can enjoy a bit of the scenery I'm seeing while I'm away. The superman strength battery life would insure I was able to use it whenever I needed it. Having a removable battery would also insure that the a716 would be usable even after a LONG day traveling or at the office.
Adding a GPS setup will come very soon after I get my next PDA, and the Bluetooth would work nicely paired up with a BT GPS receiver. That would allow me to keep my maps on a 4GB Hitachi CF microdrive, and still have the SD slot free! Maybe even getting an SD Camera would allow me to leave my S400 at home as well. I'm liking this idea even more and more as I type...
So basically, I have
no PDA right now, and have recently been searching heavily for one to fit mine and my family's "needs". The ASUS a716 fits the shoe perfectly. Built in Bluetooth was a
MUST have, and the built in 802.11b is a very nice bonus. Having at the least a built in CF slot was also must. Add in the SDIO slot, and the a716 is pretty much the perfect PDA to fill all my wants and needs....
