I have a bunch of the Andre Lamothe EDITED books (I don't think he did much editing though, judging by the code samples, inaccurate data, and sometimes outright wrong information) in the Primatech series and I can honestly say the PocketPC one is TOTAL CRAP! First off, the guy RECOMMENDS using the GDI. Uh, no. Then there's the completely useless primer on windows programming, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc
The Primatech series suffers from the classic "to much in to little pages" so hardly any of them adiquately cover their featured topic to warrant paying $10 let alone $40. Unfortunately I didn't find this out until I'd baught a bunch of 'em at once off Amazon and then started reading some a couple months later
This isn't just my opinion btw. Game Developer Magazine has had book reviews on some of the books in the series and none have had good reviews. Perhaps if you're a complete novice and just want to make something then ya, I could suggest this series and the PocketPC book, but if you know anything about Win32 or plan to actually release a commercial product stray far far away from this series.
